Jackpot, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Toronto, Ontario

Price:
$200
Location:
Toronto, ON
Description:

LOCATED in Cambridge, ONDOB 22 Apr 2020DSH buff tabbyMicrochipped Inside Jackpot are two cats: a cuddly lovebug who adores being stroked, and a shy, fearful cat who distrusts humans. While we don’t know Jackpot’s history, her left ear has been clipped: this may mean she was an ownerless outdoor cat caught as part of a TNR program. When she first came into foster care, she scrunched into a dark corner, rigid with fear. After a few days of quiet, consistent love, she began to accept her foster’s presence. Her first purr was just like her personality: whisper quiet, gentle, and tentative. Jackpot’s biggest fear is people walking toward her. Out in the open, she feels vulnerable and afraid, and will scuttle away and hide behind furniture. Yet, when she’s curled up in her safe place, she loves strokes from her foster, and will purr and roll around. She gazes at her foster with such longing, wanting to be loved and safe! Jackpot eats kibble and canned food, and uses her litter box faithfully. She hasn’t shown interest in playing: wand toys are scary. She is friendly with the resident cats. She is wary of the calm resident dog, and will find an active dog overwhelming. She would do best in a quiet adult household. She would like a hiding spot she can retreat to when fearful. Her hiding spot should be one that her adopter can reach. Shy cats are not for everyone. Jackpot needs a patient and calm adopter who is committed to helping her learn how to live with humans. The good news is that TCR offers behavioral support for adopters. Also, Jackson Galaxy has several videos on socializing wallflower cats. Trust is hard. Trust over fear is a steep challenge for anyone. By battling her fears and expressing her need for love, Jackpot shows real courage. She has so much love to give, if only she can find the right guardian.Adoption processAdoption fee is $200 per adult cat, and $250 for kittens (under 8 months old). This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way! Note: -Senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adult adoption fee of $200.-Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $150 per cat vs. $200 per cat. Thanks for giving two loving friends a home together!
