Meet soul sisters Kiki and Kiwi! This bonded pair have come along way from their tough street days, blossoming into the sweetest girls while being each other's cheerleaders all along the way.Kiwi is super bright with a rambunctious streak inspired by Kiki, light reflections or the zoomie hour. She's often investigating what her human family are doing, especially when it involves cooking. She's fascinated with sunlight or any moving light and loves chasing reflections and shadows. She loves wrestling with floor toys like her fish or mouse, though her ultimate toy is usually a pull tab from a beverage carton which she never seems to tire of. Kiwi is very affectionate and regularly comes to us for pats throughout the day, leaning in for some vigorous jaw rubs. Often Kiki gets a thrill just watching her sis get affection which Kiwi transfers with a loving head butt before returning for more pats.These girls are very loving and attentive to each other and do almost everything together - moving like double helix dancers, giving each other cuddles as they walk, grooming each other and usually being snuggle buddies. They help boost each other's confidence and bravery with reassuring nudges and pep talks and have gone from hiding under the bed for days to happily hanging out near us wherever we are. They love sharing their scratch board, roosting in their tower, eating cat grass, watching bird videos on YouTube and rolling in catnip. Your heart will melt at how sweet this duo are and they will thrive in a quiet home with patient adults and older children.Kiwi has tested negative for both FIV and FeLV. Like all ACR cats, Kiwi has been treated preventatively for fleas, worms and other parasites. Annex Cat Rescue has matched over 1000 cats and kittens with good adoptive homes since our group started! Annex Cat Rescue cats live in real homes with our foster volunteers -- not in cages! This way, the cats live in normal homes and receive good food and medical care -- and lots of personal attention. We get to know each cat, so we can help you find the best cat for you. It's kind of like a kitty match-making service! All of our cats are vaccinated, have been de-wormed, and are spayed or neutered once they reach six months of age. We are always available if you have questions or concerns as your new cat is adjusting to your home. Here is our adoption process: Please leave a voice mail or email. One of our Adoption Team volunteers will contact you to find out more about the kind of kitty you are looking for. We will suggest which of our cats might be the best match for you, and put you in touch with a few foster homes for you to contact. You can go and visit the cat in the foster home and see if you think it's a match. If you fall in love on the spot (so easy with kitties!) we ask you to go home and think about it overnight, since it's an important decision for you and for the kitty. Then, if it's a match, you can bring your cat carrier (and the adoption fee -- which is modest and does not cover all of our expenses) then take your kitty home! We ask all adopters to sign our adoption agreement, which just sets out some basics so we all understand our roles, with the kitty's best interests first and foremost! A day or two later, we'll call you to make sure all is well and provide any suggestions that might be helpful, if needed. The Annex Cat Rescue's motto is "Cat Adoption with a Difference." Our organization attempts to make a real difference for the homeless, stray and abandoned cats in this city through direct intervention and education. Every day, many people turn to us for help when Toronto Animal Services cannot. ACR does *not* run an animal shelter. All of our cats/kittens live in volunteer foster homes across Toronto where they are allowed to blossom and grow in a "home" environment (rather than in cages), and where they receive individual attention and love. While this prevents possible behavioural problems associated with caging animals, this also allows us to get to know each animal intimately and thus we can make excellent matches with adopters. Potential adopters are required to make appointments to view the animals in their respective homes. Our organization is "no kill". This means that cats in our care remain in foster homes are not euthanized (except for dire humane reasons). City shelters do not have such a policy.
