Adopt Wendy a All Black Domestic Shorthair (short coat) cat in Toronto

Location:
Toronto, ON
Description:

Microchipped, DOB May 19, 2015I can be quite affectionate with my foster parents, and enjoy snuggling under the covers with them! My adopter(s) can help me become more comfortable and confident in my new home by brushing and petting me, and playing with me (string toys are my favourite), and making sure that my introductory room is quiet, small, and calm. I'm an older cat and have seen enough to be hesitant around humans when I first meet them, but over time I will become more and more comfortable with you. You will also probably soon realize that I love "caves" and hiding spots, and that I retreat to them when I'm feeling overwhelmed. My foster parents can give you some more tips on helping me become more comfortable in my new surroundings and humans. Once I develop some trust, you'll see that I'm an absolute snuggle bug who just wants to spend time hanging out, chasing a few strings, and sleeping with my human. I am very appreciative of treats and pets, and will even ask for belly rubs from time to time. I also enjoy a window where I can catch a breeze or watch some birds. You may also find my playfulness and speed surprising - I can be quite the hunter, and like to carry my latest "catch" to my favourite sitting spot.I would do best in a quiet home with people who give me the patience and playtime I need to come out of my shell, and who will appreciate my penchant for napping. I am not reactive, am fine with other cats, (and I will typically try to say hello to them). If I get stressed I can shed a surprising amount, so make sure you brush me regularly. I am good at using scratching posts instead of furniture, and am not particularly interested in eating plants.Another thing you'll quickly notice about me is my meow - I start with a gentle tiny mew, and as I become more comfortable in my surroundings I will also become more confident with my voice, especially around mealtime!I am not a fussy eater, but I do require a hypoallergenic diet, and medication every other day, as I may have eosinophilic granuloma complex (basically some food allergies). This is not a big deal, and you can talk with my foster parents to learn a bit more about it. The most important thing is that my adoptive family should seek out and follow advice from my vet to help manage my condition. Note from foster family: Wendy is a sweet, sweet girl with a funny meow. Though she can take a couple of weeks to come out of her shell, she does become more confident, playful, and affectionate with time. She sleeps with us humans regularly, and likes to wake us up in the morning by asking to snuggle under the covers.Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $200.
