Gail, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Bingham Farms, Michigan

Location:
Bingham Farms, MI
Description:

Meet Gail! This big, beautiful lady is a special cat looking for an equally special home! Gail arrived at the shelter as a stray, but it is clear she is not a street cat and has been accustomed to the finer things in life. Gail was quite sassy upon arrival to the shelter and immediately established that she's got the tortitude we all know and love in our tortie and calico friends! She is the kind of cat that does not handle change well and she's has a hard time settling into new places. Gail has shown us a lot of great traits such as being affectionate and sociable, exploring her surroundings and being an overall friendly and outgoing cat. She's also shown that she doesn't have great coping skills by becoming easily agitated and overwhelmed. She likely will not enjoy a lot of hustle and bustle in her new home and will need an adopter who can give her the time and space she needs to adjust. Gail is also front paw declawed, which can be known to cause some behavior issues in cats as they are conflicted and unsure how to defend themselves when feeling threatened. We have seen a lot of improvement in Gail since her intake and she's only getting more social and trusting everyday. She is often seen rolling around on her beds or the floor to beg for attention! She just doesn't always know what to do when she finally gets some... We are hoping Gail can find her perfect adopter to give her a new start and another chance at the life she deserves, taking time to build a trusting, long lasting relationship! Could that be you?!Keep in mind: Gail is a big cat who needs some help losing a few pounds so she can be her happiest, healthiest self! Using food to create a trust and bond can be extremely helpful when interacting with fearful or defensive animals, but it is not a long term solution and Gail's food intake and activity levels should be closely monitored by her adopters and their veterinarians!Adoption processWe have a simple adoption application and approval process. Our adoption fees vary by animal, but generally include neutering, age appropriate vaccinations, behavior and health assessments, and health insurance. In addition, all adopters have free access to our Adopter Support program for assistance with health or behavior issues that may arise.Shelter locationOurs adoptable pets are available every day!
